We wanted you to have a chance to get to know Gail Nadal. Gail is a RIE® Associate and the Incoming President of RIE®.
I can still remember as a young child playing with my baby dolls and wanting to be the one that takes care of these baby dolls and help them to grow up by feeding, putting the babies to sleep, singing to the dolls and holding the dolls close to my heart. How fortunate I feel, to have 30 years of this dream come true. I currently work for the Yolo County Office of Education as the Director of Early Childhood Education. Our department serves Head Start/ Early Head Start which are our highest at-risk families. We serve over 400 0 – 5 year olds and those children in our infant /toddler program are cared for by committed caregivers that have been trained in the Educaring® Approach. The environment in our infant programs are calm, comfortable and inviting. Children feel a sense of peace in this environment and are allowed to explore their own curiosities and to use the play objects as they like. This is my wonderful workplace and I get to be a part of this every day, 5 days per week. I am very lucky to have found this position!
I’m looking forward to the many opportunities to visit the Friends of RIE® Minnesota (FORM) Network and congratulate your ability to come together and form a beautiful network of committed individuals interested in the Approach. Thank you.
The basis of the Educaring® Approach: RESPECT
Being a part of this organization allows us to really understand this idea and how we each feel about giving and receiving respect from one another. We not only respect babies, we demonstrate our respect every time we interact with them. Respecting a child means treating even the youngest infant as a unique individual being, not as an object. Imagine if every child entering the world could be treating with respect. Our world would be at peace.
I think about how fortunate I am to have had two beautiful children and the opportunity to be with my babies in the early years. As they grew, so did I as their mother. We learned about life, new things and how to trust in these early years. I now watch my adult children caring for their own children and am proud to watch the care and support and love they give to their babies. It is a joy.
I am looking for those moments in time when you feel at peace with your work, your love and the vision I have to trust in the relationships built between a child and their caregiver. It is a joy to observe a secure child who is confident in his own being and is assured that my caregiver is there to help me when I need help. This is so beautiful!
People have said that I am kind, supportive and caring. These do describe me and I try to stay true in
treating others with the respect that I would like to be treated. Kindness spreads quickly. Share this with those around you.
Thank you for this opportunity to share a little about me. I look forward to meeting all of you on one of my visit to Minnesota. I look forward to supporting your work around the Educaring® Approach with many. Please let me know if you have any ideas or interested in helping on the Education Planning teams.
