Who am I?
My name is Christina Gutierrez and I am a Health IT Regulatory Compliance Coordinator. After spending my early twenties living out my big city dream in downtown Chicago, I've settled down back in my Twin Cities hometown, where I've been staying busy learning how to do a DIY home remodel on my 1940's bungalow. My wife and I are adoptive "fur-moms" to three cats and an energetic pup. In addition, we are extremely proud aunts to five amazing nieces and nephews.
How did you find FORM?
I'm Carolyn Paetzel's daughter, so I got to hear about my mom's dream for this network from the very beginning. It has been very special to watch the idea grow and come to life. I worked with the network to guide the creation of its mission statement and its early strategic plan.
What aspect of the Educaring® Approach resonates with you the most?
Respecting a child as a whole person and letting them be who they are, where they are.
What are you most grateful for?
My wife, and to have such a close-knit family that I can always count on.
What is one thing you do for yourself?
I try to set aside a few minutes in the early morning to just 'be' while others are still asleep...I have a cup of coffee and just carve out some time to center myself before the day really starts.
What teacher inspired you the most? How?
Professor Mary Margaret Smith of the political science department at St. Catherine University, who encouraged my passion for policy and helped me find my voice as an introverted young adult. Also, my little brother, who has overcome the challenges imposed by spina bifida and dyslexia to become an amazing public school teacher. He works so hard and inspires me every day with his sheer will, determination, and passion for what he does.
What is the best question anyone has asked you?
My favorite question is actually a quote by St. Vincent de Paul, "Who will excuse us before God for the loss of such a great number of people, who could be saved by the slight assistance we could give them?".
