September 16, 2018

It’s September again, the kids are back in school and our family calendar is filling up.  It’s the time of year that I long for the slow, leisurely pace of summer.

Wait, a picture book by Antoinette Portis, with its simple text and illustrations, reminds me of the joy that slowing down can bring.  In it, a young boy and his mom “hurry” off to his school.  The boy continues to ask his mom to “wait” so he can investigate the wonders he encounters on their journey.

The story gently reminds the reader to slow down and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

I wish you a hurry- free fall.
