Who am I?
Gina is a doula and owner of the birth business The Sown Seed. She lives in West St. Paul with her husband Jordan and curious, independent and lion-hearted toddler, Tess. She loves helping families explore all the possibilities for birth and parenting, including how fun it can be. In her free time she loves playing music, exploring outdoors and belly laughing.
How did you find FORM?
I found FORM through Carolyn Paetzel, who so wonderfully supported my daughter at the Child Development Center at the Univeristy of St. Thomas. We've learned so much from Carolyn who also helped make us feel a lot more proficient at parenting our first time.
What aspect of the Educaring® Approach resonates with you the most and why?
Independence through Educaring® Approach is the simplest and most powerful practice in my opinion. Allowing children space to learn not only how to do new things, but about who they are is so peaceful and purposeful.
What are you most grateful for?
I am most grateful for my daughter who teaches me new things every day. Exploring things that seem so ordinary through my two-year-old's eyes has opened up a whole new world for me.
What is one thing you do for yourself? Or what would you like to do for yourself?
The simplest form of self care for me is having my coffee each morning in bed. My husband is sweet enough to help my daughter each morning so I can spend time easing into each day.
What was your favorite book as a child?
My favorite childhood book has to be "The Little House." I have such fond memories of my grandmother reading about the little pink house as I fell asleep.
What teacher inspired you the most? How?
Mr. Ress helped me understand the importance of protecting our environment and the power nature holds. I spent several summers with him in high school studying trout streams to help study and protect them. I learned the importance of protecting our planet from even the smallest degradation.
