Who am I?

I have been an Infant teacher at the University of St. Thomas Child Development Center for 4 years. I started learning about RIE around the same time. I am working toward obtaining my Master’s in Early Childhood Special Education and figuring out ways to make connections between RIE and Early Childhood Special Education.

How did you find FORM?

I found FORM through on of the founders of FORM, my coworker at the UST CDC, Carolyn Paetzel

What aspect of the Educaring® Approach resonates with you the most and why?

The aspect of the Educaring® Approach resonates with me the most is probably this quote from Magda Gerber, “Do less, observe more, enjoy most.” It always amazes me to see the incredible work the infants in my room are doing when I am simply observing them without an agenda!

What are you most grateful for?

I am most grateful for my wonderful coworkers. The infant team that I work with has an open an honest relationship that makes for a pleasant environment for the children in our care to be in.

What is one thing you do for yourself? Or what would you like to do for yourself?

One thing that I do for myself is working out. I follow a fitness program that I try to do 3 times a week (although life gets busy sometimes and I can’t always find the time).  I find that working out lowers my stress level and in turn I am a much happier person!

If your life was a book or song, what would the title be?

I have no idea on this one…

What was your favorite book as a child?

My favorite series of books as a child would have to be Harry Potter. I grew up during the time these books were initially released. In anticipation for the release of a new book in the series, my siblings and I would read all of the previous books leading up to it to prepare for the new book.

What teacher inspired you the most? How?

The teacher that inspired me the most would be my 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Johannes. I always think of her when I think about why I became a teacher myself. She was always kind and respectful and she pushed me to do my best. She always took an interest in her student’s personal lives, which I found very appealing.

What 3 words best describe you?

Thoughtful. Caring. Conscientious.

What is the best question anyone has asked you?

I think that the best question anyone has asked me would be “what do you want people to remember you for?”
