About The Event

We learn best in what we’re interested in! Infants and toddlers are no different. Come explore understanding children’s interactions with people, objects and the environment through the lens of schema play. As we gain more understanding of these play patterns, adults are more able us to support and challenge children’s thinking, ideas and their developing concepts. Our guest facilitator for Saturday, April 20th is Carol Ayres.

She is a dedicated professional working as an administrator, coach and technical assistance provider in early care and education for over 20 years in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Understanding the benefit of being a lifelong learner, Carol returned to the classroom and received her Masters from UMKC in Curriculum and Instruction, Early Childhood Education in 2005. For the past five years, Carol has served as trainer, coach and technical assistance provider for a childhood wellness and obesity prevention collaborative promoting best practices in nutrition and physical activity using an integrated approach to support healthy habits early in life. In the past three years, Carol has become more involved with quality Infant/Toddler initiatives and attended RIE® Foundations™: Theory and Observation training in St. Paul, MN. Carol provides community-based training to early childhood providers through her role as an Early Education Specialist at The Family Conservancy, a non-profit social service agency located in Kansas City, KS.
